Michigan Industrial Hygiene Society MIHS & WMIHS at the Michigan Safety Conference
By Tracy Parsons, CIH - MIHS MSC Coordinator
MIHS and WMIHS jointly sponsored a booth at this year's Michigan Safety Conference in Lansing, April 15-16, 2008. The primary purpose of the booth is to recruit new members to our professional societies but we also use the MSC as a means to interface and advance IH with many people with different backgrounds and questions - some who have never heard of IH.
We had many people stop by the booth this year who expressed interest in either joining our groups or getting on our e-mailing lists for events. So hopefully, you'll get a chance to meet some new faces at a future MIHS or WMIHS event. When you do see these new faces, welcome them and make them feel part of the group.
We had many volunteers for this year's booth. They worked in 2 hour shifts and they represented MIHS & WMIHS very well. Several people also volunteered as "back ups" which helped make the staffing job a lot easier. So many thanks to Bob Allen, Bob Auchterlonie, Bill Bishop, Bob Brock, Bob Chapman, Bill Cleary, Terry Fisk, Aaron Jacob, Doug Kalinowski, Tim Martin, Tom Martin, Lynn O'Donnell and Pier George Zanoni. We could not have done this without your support so THANK YOU.
Next year's MSC will be in Grand Rapids and although it's a bit early to start planning, I'd encourage you to commit yourself now to helping out with the MIHS/WMIHS booth. It's a wonderful way to meet other people and talk about our great profession. I guarantee you'll have some fun as well! |
